Vaginas and BAM

The Awful Truth… this is not a pornographic post, despite the topic.

Tonight I’m going to see The Vagina Monologues. Surprisingly, this is not related to Valentine’s Day, which we’ll discuss in a second. This event, rather, came about because a friend of ours was promoting the show. Charlotte’s seen it, and liked it, and I’ve heard good things about it, so we figured what the hell and grabbed some tickets. Seems like a good way to support the students at NYU, and maybe if I’m lucky I’ll even get to buy a chocolate vagina on a stick from the table outside, or something.

Now then … tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, which as anyone knows is a phony-baloney holiday made up by Hallmark in order to try and sell more cards. On the other hand, what’s wrong with telling the person you love that you love them? Nothing!

Since I love my wife, it seemed reasonable to do something on Valentine’s Day. Since I’m lazy, I let her pick what to do. What she came up with was very cool. We live just down the street from the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which is also home to thriving theater and cinema departments. This means they have a lot of cool events, most of which I end up ignoring in favor of playing video games. Yeah … should probably do something about that.

So we are. We’re going to their Valentine’s Day Dinner and a Movie event, which features a Cary Grant comedy from the 30’s called The Awful Truth. Sounds pretty funny, and I haven’t seen a good classic movie in a while, so that’s cool. The dinner also sounds good. I’m planning on eating me some delicious mushroom and cheese crepe!

If the movie’s good, perhaps I will review it. If not, perhaps I will simply write another amusing video game article! Actually, I may do that anyway. Stay tuned.
